Academic Experiences
I am a Freshmen at Rider University, and some of the courses that I have taken thus far are: Expository Writing, Speech and Communication, College Reading, and Race Class and Gender in America. I entered college with an undecided major however; I now have declared my Major as Biology and two minors in Gender and Sexuality Studies and Italian. I will be taking more courses that are in my area of studies next semester.
Writing papers and speaking in public at first, was a very big challenge for me because I was more fluent in Spanish than English. However, over the past couple months I have gained the knowledge and experience to developing my skills.
Here I have provided you with some examples of my works:
This is a short paper that I wrote for my Race, Class and Gender course. This paper is about the economics of Race, Class and Gender in America.
For my Speech and Communication class I delivered a persuasive speech, in which I encouraged my classmates to take action and speak against child abuse.

Working Experiences
At this point in my life I have to admit that I do not have a lot working experiences however, I strongly believe that everyone's work experience begins somewhere. My first job was at a Day Care in the Dominican Republic. I had the opportunity to have some hands on experience working with children and this job made me interested in becoming a pediatrician. I have also worked in retail. I worked at Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister Co as a cashier and sales associate. I have also participated in many community service activities.

College Experiences
Being in college can give you a great opportunity to network and show the world what you have to offer. At Rider University I got the opportunity to grow academically and socially wise. Just to summarize some of my college experiences thus far.
• During the summer of 2009, as an Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) student, I received the opportunity to attend to the Obama and Corzine Rally. I was awarded front row tickets because I earlier that week I was awarded student of the week in the EOP. I had received the chance if a life time to listen to President Obama speak and meet the president himself afterwords. This was such a rewarding experience that I will never forget.
• As a member of Multicultural Student Leadership Institute (MSLI), we attended the Heritage Day Festival in Trenton, New Jersey. There we had the opportunity to meet the former governor of New Jersey. Jon S. Corzine .
• Throughout the Fall 2009 semester I studied the works of James McBride. On November 18 2009, EOP hosted The 10th Annual Distinguished Writers Series where author James McBride attended and gave us the opportunity to read our works on his books.
• Rider University, every year hosts Ha-Ha week, which is a week-long event that raises awareness to college students about Hunger and Homelessness issues. A group of students including myself, volunteered in an event called Sleep Out for the homelessness, where we raised awareness on our campus by sleeping out in cardboard boxes on our campus mall.
